Dr. Oz, That Mountebank For The Millions
Dr. Mehmet Oz, a carney-barker peddling his patently patent-medicines, in his little daily hour of excitable special effects and nonstop chatter. A natural star, forsooth, in the miserable firmament of daytime television.
It's tempting to ignore him, as one among so many, and to let him count his mounting loot without bothering to pull back the curtain on this wizardly Oz. But Mehmet Oz peddles so much misinformation that to ignore his influence constitutes medical malfeasance, and doctors of the British Medical Association studied his miracle-cure recommendations, and were not amused nor indifferent, for they found his nostrums positively noxious in raising false hopes, and leading credulous listeners astray.
