The European Union (h/t Brian Barker) is working to set its web pages in just one language, Esperanto, due to the increasing costs for the number of languages officially used by the EU.
The web pages will be published only in Esperanto from April 1, 2011.
Full details can be seen here.

Way back when I was a child there was a great international Esperanto conference in London. Esperanto scholars came from all over the world to give papers about, and to praise, the idea of an international language. Every country on earth was represented at the conference and all the papers were given in Esperanto.
After several days the conference came to an end and the great scholars wandered amiably along the corridors. At last they felt free to talk casually amongst themselves in their international language:
"Nu, vos macht a yid?"
